Kenton Wrestling: Blankenship & Eikenbary finalist at North Union Don Wasserbeck Tournament

The Kenton High School wrestling team placed 10th with 63 points in the Don Wasserbeck Tournament in North Union High School. Marysville won the tournament with 257 points.
Sophomore, Brian Blankenship placed 2nd in the 138 lb. weight class.  Blankenship defeated Bryce Cook-McCoy of Marion (Fall 3:10), Skyler Cowgill of North Union (Fall 1:01), Jayden Simmons (dec. 9-5) and Slava Makarov (Fall 3:10) of Marysville to make it to the finals. Preston Smith of Pleasant defeated Blankenship in the finals by Fall 3:06.
Noah Eikenbary placed 3rd in the 195 lb weight class.  Eikenbary defeated Ethan Ashman of Marion Harding (Fall 3:27) and Adam Kreutzer of Olentangy (Fall 2:25) in the round robin pool, but lost a narrow match 0-2 to Logan Painter of Marysville.  Eikenbary defeated Trace Conrad of North Union in the consolation finals by Fall :41 to take 3rd.
Mason Rhoades (113 lb), Hunter Winfield (152 lb) and Ethan Manns (170 lb) also picked up a victory at the tournament.
Kenton travels to Celina tomorrow evening, Jan. 24th at Celina High School.
