2014-2015 Cheerleading Tryouts

Cheerleading clinics and tryouts will be March 18- 21. Clinics will be Tuesday through Thursday in the main gym from 5:30 to 7:30. Warm ups for tryouts begin immediately after school on Friday and judging starts at 4pm.

Monday’s Clinic has been CANCELLED due to the Winter Sports Banquet.

MiniCamp Cheerleaders will cheer at the St. Mary’s game!

Campers need to attend practice the week of the game which will be held at the football field, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 3:45 until 4:45, which means she will be cheering at the Friday, September 13th game against St. Mary’s.

Campers will be cheering with the high school during the first and third quarters of the game.

Remember to wear your KHS Mini Cheer Camp shirt!

 

2013 Mini Cheer Camp 

The KHS Cheerleaders will be hosting the 2013 Mini Cheer Camp August  8th and 9th at the High School from 5-7 p.m. for grades K – 2 and 5-8 p.m. for grades 3-8. This camp is open to girls and boys.

The Camp will be $20 for the 5-8 camp and $15 for the 5-7 camp. Students K – 2 who are interested in staying the full three hours are permitted to do so for the full $20.

Early Registration and camp T-shirt order forms will be available in the High School Office August 1st or you may see a KHS Cheerleader for the form.

All other registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. the first day of camp. T-shirts ordered after August 1st will not be ready until the practice the week of the game.

Campers need to wear athletic clothing (t-shirts or tank tops and shorts) for camp and a pair of tennis/cheer shoes. Hair must be pulled back.

Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the camp activities.

 

2013 UCA Cheer Camp Awards

Group Awards:

KHS Varsity  received a Superior Blue Ribbon in the Cheer and Xtreme Dance Routine Evaluations earning them an invitation to the 2014 Capitol One Bowl to participate in the half-time show. The Varsity also won first place in the Camp Champs competition for the Xtreme Dance Routine and Second overall in the Game Day competition.

The Junior Varsity received an Excellent Red Ribbon in the Cheer and Xtreme Dance Routine Evaluations. The JV also received the Most Improved JV squad award.

Individual Awards:

All 6 Seniors (Kaleb Howard, Emily Baird, Kristen Wormley, Brandi Barrett, Laney Carmean) were asked to try-out to be UCA Staff members. We wish them good luck!

The Pin-It-Forward Leadership Pin is awarded by UCA Staff members to those individuals who go above and beyond what it means to be a cheerleader. Each of those individuals then select another cheerleader to receive a pin on the last day of camp. These Kenton cheerleaders received 3 of the 16 pins awarded!

All American Cheerleader

The following Kenton cheerleaders won the opportunity to cheer in the Macy’s New Year’s Day Parade or the New Year’s Day Parade in London, England as a UCA All American Cheerleader! These Kenton cheerleaders represent 4 out of the 14 cheerleaders selected from the camp’s All American tryouts.

Cheer Camp for the 2013-2014 Cheer Squads will be at Ohio Northern University, July 16- 19.

2013 -2014 Fundraisers

The first fundraiser, the May 3rd Sit-A-thon, was a fun night for all! The cheerleaders and participants had a great time with games, face painting, and sign making! Other fundraisers to come include:

Mini Cheer Camp     August 8th and 9th

Grades K-2     5-7 pm  $15.00

Grades 3-8      5-8 pm  $20.00 (K-2 may stay for 3 hours for $20.00)

Congratulations to our new Mascot! 

The contestant who danced to the Macarena will be the mascot for the 2013- 2014 school year.

 

2013 Cheer and Mascot Tryouts

Cheerleading and Mascot clinics will be March 18th, 20th, and 21st from 5:30 to 7:30 in the high school gymnasium. Tryouts will be immediately after school of Friday the 22nd.

All interested candidates will need to see Coach Smith or Coach Hollister for a permission slip and parent letter. Candidates must also have a current physical on file at either the high school or middle school.

Attendance at clinics is mandatory.

Tumbling open gyms will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 at Cynergy Dance Studio all weeks leading up to the tryouts. The cost of open gyms will be $5.

Winter Sports Banquet

The Winter Sports Banquet will be March 19th at 7:00 in the gymnasium. All Basketball Cheerleaders are required to attend.

 

KHS Cheerleaders will be selling Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough until August 29th.

They also received the Universal Cheerleading Association’s Leadership Award for Inspiring Leadership On and Off the Field. Only cheerleaders participate in voting for this award and it is given to only one squad per camp. Way to go squad!

The KHS Cheerleaders will be hosting the 2012 Mini Cheer Camp August 6th, 7th, and 8th at the High School from 5-8 p.m.

The Camp will be $25 and is open to girls and boys in grades K-8.

Early Registration and camp T-shirt order forms will be available in the High School Office July 30th. Limited T-shirts will be available for purchase the day of camp so early registration and T-shirt orders are encouraged. T-shirt orders and payments will need to be returned to the high school office by August 3rd.

All other registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. the first day of camp.

Summer/Fall Reminders:

  • Check your Google Cheer Calendars REGULARLY and when prompted for practice dates and time. If you would like to receive access to the Cheer Calendar please contact the coaches.
  • Fall Sports Pictures are August 15th! Check the Google Cheer Calendar for times.
  • Camp and Uniforms must be paid in full before participation in Summer and Fall activities will be permitted. Payments can be made to coaches or to Deb Ashba at the Oaklief Administration Building Monday through Thursday. Once school is in session payments can be made at the high school office.

July 28th         10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.           Car Wash at the high school

August 6-8      5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.           Mini Cheer Camp at the high school *Kenton t-shirts, charms, and other items may be purchased during this mini-camp.

August 18        10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.           Car Wash at the high school with the Kenton Football Team washing the cars!

2012- 2013 Cheer Camp

Cheer Camp for the 2012-2013 Cheer Squads will be at Ohio Northern University, July 16- 19.

Cheerleaders and parents will need to meet in the Athletic Building parking lot.  Departure time will be 8:30 a.m. on Monday and at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Parent volunteers will be driving to and from the school. If you are unsure of the driver assignments and schedules please contact the coaches.

Camp will end at approximately 8:15 each day, except Thursday (Thursday end time is TBA).

Campers need to bring spending money and approximately $10 for lunch and dinner each day. Campers are also encouraged to eat a good breakfast at home each morning.
