KHS Wrestling Results

The KHS Wrestling Team attended the 38th annual Sally George Invitational Jan. 27th & 28th. Kenton placed 17th with 10 wrestlers competing and 9 KHS wrestlers advanced to the 2nd day of wrestling. Wrestlers that won matches were Sophomore Riley Fitzgerald in the 126 weight class beating Dylan Winters from Westerville South in a 2-0 decision.
Freshman Trenton Coomes in the 132 weight class winning with a 10-5 decision over Senior Keyvon Rashidi from University School. In the 138 weight class Sophomore Brian Blankenship earned a big win over Freshman Patricl Drury of Grandview Heights with a pin fall at 55 seconds in the 1st period. Kenton Freshman Andrew Tayler also earned a pin fall in the 160 pound weight class against London Sophomore wrestler Jack Minner at the 4:29 mark. Ethan Manns, Kenton’s 182 freshman wrestler, won a match against a freshman North Union wrestler Braxton Conol with a 10-0 Major Decision. Freshman wrestler Noah Eikenbary led the team with a 4th place over all finish in the 195 pound weight class.

Eikenbary won a round one match over senior Cooper Dine of Marion Pleasant with a pin fall at the 2:55 mark. Northmor senior wrestler Nathan Price was not able to hold off Eikenbary and lost the match by a fall with 20 seconds to go in the 3rd period. Eikenbary dropped his 3rd round match to highly favored and number 1 seed senior Jake burns of West Jefferson. Eikenbary rebounded and defeated Garrett Raney from Holland Springfield with a 4-3 decision advancing to the final round. Eikenbary lost his final match of the day to sophomore Caleb Carpenter of Liberty center with a 4-0 decision placing 4th for the tournament.

The wrestlers are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Shawnee High School for the WBL Championships.
