Eighteen wrestlers on the Kenton Youth Wrestling team traveled to Beavercreek, Ohio for a MVKWA Mini-Meet Sunday, Jan. 29th, 2017. The meet had over 600 wrestlers and nineteen other teams from the Dayton area.
Gavin Sealscott maintained his undefeated record at 15-0 with wins over wrestlers from Bellebrook, Vandalia-Butler and Tecumseh. Sealscott wrestles in the 6 yr old division – 50 lb groups. He recorded 3-0 record with 6 take-downs, 3 near falls, 3 reversals, 1 escape and a pin for the meet.
Tim Wilkinson and Anthony Hunt shared the take-down title this week with 7. Both Wilkinson and Hunt placed 1st with a 3-0 record and 2 pins.
Bill Wilkinson (2-0, 2 Pins), Aaron Modd (2-0, 2 Pins) and Mason Cook (2-0, 1 Pin) also took first place for the meet.
Alannah Jackson (2-1, 1 Pin) and Austin Root (2-1) placed 2nd at the meet.
As a team, Kenton posted record of 23-28. They had a total of 12 Pins, 58 take-downs, 23 near fall points, 22 reversals and 34 escapes.
Youth wrestlers will be competing at Elida next Sunday, Feb. 5th before hosting their own meet on Sunday, Feb. 12th at Kenton High School.
