On a wet, windy day in Elida, the Kenton Boys Soccer team found a way to edge out Shawnee and earn their spot in the District Finals. The Wildcats went in to the half down 1-0, with little to show for on the offensive side end. Early in the second half, Hayden Hicks fought through a handful of Shawnee defenders before being fouled in the goalie box which provided Kenton with a penalty kick. Landon Bartlett made the right move to find the back of the net and tie the game up at 1-1.
Shawnee made a costly error, providing Kenton a one score lead with an “own goal” which ended up being the difference. Kenton will face the winner of Elida and St. Mary’s on Thursday, October 26th at 6PM at Elida.
